For over twenty years, I have been a hairstylist, specializing in the Art of Hair Color. I have lived in the world of color and the beauty industry for all of my adult life. My passion for painting hair and helping others feel their best led to opening my own salon in 2010.
I poured everything into my clients, training my employees and running a start up company. Karu Salon was recognized as one of the top salons in the city and was awarded many accolades through out the years. After 10 successful years of building an incredible reputation, I was forced to close my doors due to the pandemic. Like so many other small businesses, the shut downs and roller coaster ride of emotions finally took it's toll. I felt defeated but was hopeful there was something else in store for me.
To cope with the loss, I turned to art therapy and fell in love with acrylic pouring. I spent hours studying and experimenting with cups, funnels, dustpans & brushes. This creative process became my escape from the heartache of losing an institution that I dedicated my life to for 10 years. I found a fire in my belly again and a passion in my soul that was missing for years.
Just a few months after I began this new path, I was fortunate enough to attract the attention of Consuela, a luxury hand bag company in Austin. Conni Reed, the CEO of Consuela saw my artwork on social media and purchased my print for her Fall Collection 2021. I am so honored to be affiliated with a company that uplifts women and creates hundreds of jobs for artisans like myself.
After accomplishing this goal, I began Live Colorfully Art to not only share my art with the world but to hopefully inspire someone else to have the confidence and tenacity to start a new hobby or new career beyond their wildest dreams. To LIVE COLORFULLY means to live your best life and up to your fullest potential, beyond the limits that society, our families or ourselves put on us.
Live colorfully!
